Now Available: Marlena! We bought this sleek black 1991 164L back in 1999. We've driven her cross-country and used her as a daily driver. Sold her three years ago to our Alfa Club friend Bob who is now ready to sell her to a new owner. S wheels, performance shocks and springs and a performance chip make this car a sweet ride. Asking just $4,950. vonThyme@aol.com or 703/807-0798.

In 1986, Alfa put in a redesigned instrument panel that fit perfectly with the then 15 year-old dash, and did some other interior updates for the Veloce and Quadrifoglio models, including redesigned seats and door hardware. For 1991, they added interior colored knee bolsters, and an airbag-equipped steering wheel.

My friend Jack's 1991 164L was hanging out at the Alfa Base, looking for a new owner. This is an exceptionally well-maintained car with all important systems working well. 125,000 miles. Stebro exhaust, CD player, and other niceties. Many more photos at: http://photos.alfa-base.com/164L I wound up trading it to a fellow Mid-Atlantic AROC member for his '81 Spider.

A number of Italian cows gave their hides for the leather-rich 164 interior. The seats are as comfortable as the best Volvo or Mercedes ever made. Their electric adjustments all work too. The leather has some patina but is not torn or abused.

The 164's heart is its 3.0 liter engine, putting 183 horsepower to the front wheels. Yes, it's FWD, a real boon for traction and control. Automotive writers described it as the best driving FWD car to date when it was released.

This is my friend Jack's "Akavish," which is Hebrew for Spider. Sold in preparation for his move to Israel, April 2007, for $4,050--fortunately it is staying local in Maryland. It's a good looking car with a blue cloth top.
